In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Saturday, Georgia’s two-term Republican governor expressed his continued endorsement of former President Trump as the Republican nominee in the event that Trump secures the party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
Governor Kemp stated, “Despite all of that, despite all of his other trials and tribulations, he would still be a lot better than Biden.” He emphasized that supporting Trump and his potential administration had everything to do with prioritizing victory and countering what he viewed as detrimental policies from the current Biden administration, rather than being motivated by cowardice.
Kemp had previously hinted at his commitment to the eventual GOP nominee, emphasizing the significance of the 2024 election and the need to prioritize the interests of the Republican party.
While the extent of Kemp’s campaign efforts for Trump remains uncertain due to their tumultuous history, the presence of the former president in Georgia is expected to be significant, as Republicans seek to regain control of the White House.
