Surrey Police has announced that the father, stepmother, and uncle of 10-year-old Sara Sharif have all been charged with her murder. The accused individuals are identified as Urfan Sharif, aged 41, his partner Beinash Batool, aged 29, and Urfan’s brother, Faisal Malik, aged 28. They all reside on Hammond Road in Woking.
In addition to the murder charges, each of them faces charges related to causing or allowing the death of a child. Sara’s lifeless body was discovered at her residence on August 10th. A post-mortem examination revealed that she had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries.”
Before their arrest, the three adults left the United Kingdom for Pakistan on August 9th. They were apprehended at Gatwick Airport upon their return from Dubai. Surrey Police confirmed the charges early on Friday, and the individuals have been remanded in custody. They are scheduled to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court later on the same day.
Sara Sharif had five siblings, ranging in age from one to 13 years old, who also accompanied Mr. Sharif, Ms. Batool, and Mr. Malik to Pakistan on August 9th. These children were located by Pakistani authorities at Mr. Sharif’s father’s residence on Monday and have since been relocated to a government childcare facility in Pakistan.
Surrey Police has kept Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, informed of the latest developments and is providing her with support from specialist officers.
