Early on Sunday morning, a devastating house fire occurred in Co Cavan, resulting in the loss of two lives.
Emergency services and Gardaí swiftly responded to the incident in the Ballyjamesduff area around 2 am, managing to extinguish the blaze.
Unfortunately, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 50s were declared deceased at the scene. Their remains have been transported to Cavan General Hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The fire scene remains cordoned off for a technical examination by the authorities, and the Coroner has been informed. Investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing.
