Kraft Heinz issues a recall for over 83,000 cases of individually wrapped cheese slices due to potential safety concerns
A "temporary issue" with one of the wrapping machines led to a thin film sticking to the cheese slices, even after they were removed from the wrapper
If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could potentially pose a gagging or choking hazard, prompting Kraft Heinz's voluntary recall
The recall affects 16-ounce Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Products with "best by" dates between Jan. 10, 2024, and Jan. 27, 2024, along with 3-pound multipacks of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese with "best by" dates between Jan. 9, 2024, and Jan. 13, 2024
The issue came to light after several consumer complaints about plastic film found sticking to the cheese slices. Six consumers reported choking or gagging incidents
Kraft Heinz took swift action to fix the problem, with no reports of serious injuries or health issues
All processing machines have been thoroughly inspected to prevent future issues, ensuring product safety
Consumers who purchased the recalled items should not consume them and can return them to the point of sale for an exchange or refund
For inquiries, consumers can contact Kraft Heinz from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday, at 1-800-280-8252 to check if their product is part of the recall and receive reimbursement
Kraft Heinz remains dedicated to upholding the highest safety and quality standards, apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the recall
